eSIM Support

The iPhone 17 Pro fully supports eSIM technology, which is Apple’s preferred method for cellular connectivity. Key points:

eSIM-Only in Select Regions: In countries like the US, Canada, Japan, Mexico, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Guam, and Puerto Rico, the iPhone 17 Pro is eSIM-only—no physical SIM tray. This design allows for a larger battery (e.g., ~4,252 mAh vs. ~3,988 mAh in SIM tray models), providing up to 2 extra hours of video playback.
Hybrid in Other Regions: In places like the UK, Europe, Australia, India, and China, it supports both eSIM and a physical nano-SIM tray (China uses dual physical SIMs without eSIM).
Capabilities: Stores up to 8+ eSIM profiles, uses 2 simultaneously (e.g., for dual lines or travel). Activation is quick via QR code, app, or carrier profile—over 600 carriers worldwide support it, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and international options like Vodafone.
Travel Perks: Easily switch carriers abroad without swapping cards; apps like Airalo or Holafly make global data simple.
Compatibility Note: Requires a carrier that supports eSIM. If traveling to non-eSIM regions, consider a backup device or physical SIM adapter (though not native).

If you’re in an eSIM-only region, setup is seamless: Power on, connect to Wi-Fi, and activate via your carrier’s instructions.
